New Delhi: Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of late BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, has entered into active politics with her appointment as co-convener of the legal cell of the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, in his first appointment in the state unit after taking over as full-time state President, appointed Swaraj as co-convener of the legal cell. In a letter issued last week, Sachdeva said Swaraj’s appointment would come into force with immediate effect and hoped that she would strengthen the BJP.
Swaraj thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP brass for her appointment. “I am grateful to the Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi ji, Amit Shah ji, J P Nadda ji, B L Santhosh, Virendra Sachdeva, for giving me this opportunity,” Swaraj tweeted on March 26.
She practices law in the Supreme Court. She enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in 2007 and has 16 years of experience in the legal profession, according to a statement from the Delhi BJP. She qualified as a Barrister at Law and was called to the bar from the Inn of Inner Temple, London. Thereafter, she completed her Masters of Studies from St Catherine’s College at the University of Oxford.
