BHARTI Airtel, through its Tanzanian subsidiary Airtel Tanzania, has emerged as key player in telecommunications sector, significantly contributing to the country’s economic growth.
As the third-largest telecom operator in Tanzania, Airtel provides a range of services, including voice communication, data via its growing 4G network, and mobile financial services under its Airtel Money brand.
One of the standout contributions by Airtel Tanzania is its participation in the Government’s digital transformation efforts. By expanding its 4G network, Airtel is actively supporting Tanzania’s shift towards a more digitally connected economy.
The company’s investment in the network infrastructure is in line with its strategy of promoting accessibility and growth in mobile data usage, which is critical to Tanzania’s development.
Airtel’s commitment is also seen in its financial agreements with the Government, such as the $12 million payment for expanding its 4G services. Its fin-services platform Airtel Money has contributed to financial inclusion.
