THE recent visit of the US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, to Bengaluru, the “Silicon Valley” of India, resonated with a sense of dynamism and innovation. Garcetti, captivated by the city’s vibrancy, hailed Bengaluru as a centre of boundless energy and creativity.
“Stepping into Bengaluru felt like diving into a whirlpool of energy and innovation. But what truly amazed me was seeing the incredible work being done here to strengthen US-India relations,” Garcetti shared on X.
Garcetti, during his visit, engaged with Bengaluru’s growing space sector, meeting with key figures including ISRO Chairman S Somanath. Discussions centred on space collaboration, primarily the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar mission, known as NISAR.
The visit also included interactions with industry leaders and members of the American Chamber of Commerce India, emphasising the importance of the US-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) in fostering strategic security and technology cooperation.
The US Ambassador’s engagement extended to the Science Gallery Bengaluru, where he explored the “Carbon” exhibition, showcasing India’s research-based engagement. This visit reinforced the robust economic and commercial relations between the two nations, poised to transform the future.
