NEW DELHI: The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) led by Lalduhoma secured a majority in the Mizoram assembly, winning 21 out of the 40 seats and leading in six others, as reported by the Election Commission (EC) during the vote count.
The ruling party Mizoram National Front (MNF) fared poorly which also saw its Chief Minister Zoramthanga lose from Aizawl East-1 seat by 2101 votes.
Key victories for ZPM include their CM candidate Lalduhoma, who secured the Serchhip seat by defeating his MNF counterpart J Malsawmzuala Vanchhawng with a margin of 2,982 votes.
The ZPM also emerged victorious in various constituencies, including Kolasib, Chalfilh, Tawi, Aizawl North-II, Aizawl West-I, Aizawl West-II, Aizawl West-III, Aizawl South-I, Aizawl South-III, Lengteng, Tuichang, Champhai North, Tuikum, Hrangturzo, South Tuipui, Lunglei West, Lunglei South, Lawngtlai East.
