UN’s 2030 Agenda is likeSabka Sath Sabka Vikas

The UN launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 under the 2030 Agenda. The focus of SDGs is on five Ps: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership.

Tiris needs to be discussed in the context of our traditional thinking. In the strategy decided upon by the United Nations in 2012and 2015, when the SDGs came into force, there was emphasis on economic, political, and social transformation, the triple transition that should address the five Ps. SDGs move forward from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

There are 17 SDGs. Goals 1 to 7 were part of the MDGs. Goals 8 to 10 are development instruments, and Goals 11 to 17 give us the framework for sustainability.

India, like many other countries, has set an ambitious target for the implementation of SDGs in ensuring several areas for inclusive socioeconomic progress
SDGs by themselves are not independent. They are all connected to each other; for example, Goal 2 is on agriculture. The remaining goals are also not independent; they are connected to this SDG 2. If some action is taken in agriculture or if some new programme started, then it will also affect poverty (Goal 1), water (Goal 6) and energy(Goal 7).

India, like many other countries, has set an ambitious target for the implementation of SDGs in several areas for ensuring inclusive socioeconomic progress. Our agenda of economic growth and development has gone through a major change since the adoption of SD Gs.

This agenda raises substantial hope for ensuring the wellbeing of all citizens Oeaving no one behind) through guided national policies and meaningful stakeholder partnerships. Hence, there can be no better convergence of ideas than Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call SabkaSathSabka Vikas and the motto of the 2030 Agenda ‘Leaving no one behind:

The recent various flagship programmes launched by India at socio-economic fronts are the concrete examples of shift towards the new development paradigm as espoused by SDGs. Hence, there is a need for effective and emphatic implementation of the agenda of SDGs.
