New Delhi: India Rankings 2023 of the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) were released here on June 5 by Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, MoS for Education and External Affairs.
This is the eighth consecutive edition of India Rankings of higher educational institutions (HEIs) in India.
The release saw the presence of K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary (Higher Education); Prof M Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, UGC; Prof TG Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE; Prof. Anil Sahasrabuddhe, Chairman, NETF and NBA; Dr. Abhay Jere, ViceChairman, AICTE and Anil Kumar Nassa, Member Secretary, NBA.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh stated that ranking and accreditation were vital for evaluating the quality of educational programs offered by higher education institutions in colleges and universities. He said the Ministry of Education took the commendable step of drafting NIRF in 2015, which defines multi-dimensional parameters to capture quality and excellence of HEIs in India.
The minister mentioned that India Rankings serve as valuable tool for students in identifying universities based on their relative standing in various categories and subject domains among HEIs in the country.
While expressing pleasure over increase in the number of institutions which applied for ranking, he stressed upon working collectively to bring more and more institutions under the ambit of India Rankings.
