Deepak DwivediTERRORISM is the biggest enemy of humanity and all countries need to work together to deal with it. War cannot bring an end to terrorism; in fact war is not a solution to any problem. The world is facing multiple crises today. It is time to work collectively for everyone’s welfare. For this, the world needs to imbibe the mantra of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’,enunciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G20 Summit in New Delhi. This is also the basic concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the whole world is one family), which has been prevalent in India for centuries.

At the ninth conference of presiding chairmen of parliaments of G20 member countries (P20), PM Modi launched a strong attack on terrorism and said the world must work together to deal with this scourge. It is a different matter that due to vested interests, many countries have different views on such a big problem as terrorism. An example of this was seen recently in Canada, America, and Britain, where supporters of Khalistani terrorists demonstrated against India, and these countries remained silent.

PM Modi launched a strong attack on terrorism and said world must work together to deal with this scourge

Now again, the world seems divided over the terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas. Therefore, today it becomes all the more important to define ‘terrorism’. Lack of consensus on the definition of terrorism is proving to be disastrous for the entire world. It is unfortunate that several countries are ignoring the supporters of terrorism, and those involved in it, to fulfil their local, national, or global interests.

After the attack by Palestinian extremist group Hamas on Israel, Prime Minister Modi said in clear words that India supports Israel in its fight against terror. He assured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that India stands firmly with Israel in its hour of crisis.

Although India has traditionally been a supporter of the legitimate rights of Palestine – and an MEA statement emphasised that there has been no change in its “longstanding and consistent” policy – the Government has kept its stand on terrorism clear. Keeping multiple factors in mind, it has maintained a balanced approach in its foreign policy.

The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies, a prominent Indianorigin group in the US, has also expressed solidarity with the people of Israel and said the attack by Hamas terrorists on innocent civilians in the country is a crime against humanity. Thousands of people have lost their lives so far and several have become homeless, or are struggling for life.

It is time everyone condemned these heinous and brutal acts in the strongest possible terms. Such kind of terrorist attacks, and the failure of the countries to take a united stand against these, can engulf the entire world into a serious crisis.

If there has to be peace in the world, then every effort should be made to release the hostage citizens of Israel. At the same time, it is also necessary to suppress the terrorist mentality that wants to erase the name and trace of a country.

It is commendable that India has taken a firm stand against terrorism. Without making any compromises, PM Modi has expressed his resolve to support Israel, while remaining sympathetic to the Palestinian cause and raising his voice for their legitimate rights.
