A Visionary Prime Minister Shaping Education for VIKSIT BHARAT

by Deepak Dwivedi

in Education

Deepak DwivediPrime Minister Narendra Modi isn’t just a visionary; he’s a builder, too, translating the grand goal of a Developed India into a living blueprint of a transformative education system. He understands that empowered young minds are the pillars of progress, and his policies are boldly fueling India’s future, through a thoughtful curriculum, enriched classrooms, and inspired students.

Under Modi, with the implementation of NEP, Indian education will not just be about degrees; rather it’s about unleashing the potential of young minds to create a brighter future, both for themselves and the nation.

“Education is not just about getting a job; it’s about getting a life,” Modi once declared. The Prime Minister envisions young people not just securing employment, but becoming agents of change, equipped to tackle complex challenges and contribute meaningfully to India’s transformation.

The NEP 2020 is his masterstroke. It’s a game-changer, focusing on critical thinking, creativity, and innovation. As he aptly put it, “The NEP is not just about a change in syllabus, but a change in mindset.” Its holistic approach aims to empower young minds to become well-rounded individuals, ready to thrive in the 21st century.

“We must move from rote learning to critical thinking, from knowledge to application,” Modi asserts. The NEP echoes this by promoting flexibility, interdisciplinary learning, and a balanced emphasis on vocational skills and critical thinking. This equips students with the tools to become not just problem solvers, but innovators who can shape the future.

Being an inspiring leader, with keen focus on education, his government’s impact is already being felt. Enrolment in higher education is rising, with the gross enrolment ratio (GER) witnessing a significant increase from 24.5% in 2014- 15 to 28.4% in 2021-22, showcasing a positive trend that is expected to reach over 30% in 2024-25. This means more youth are entering the halls of knowledge, equipped to contribute to India’s progress.

Modi understands that education without employability is like a ship without an anchor. Initiatives like Skill India and Digital India bridge the gap, equipping youth with the skills and knowledge needed for the evolving job market. “Skill development is not just about getting jobs; it’s about empowering our youth to become creators of jobs,” Modi rightly affirmed.

Modi’s vision doesn’t end at national borders. “We must equip our youth with the skills and knowledge to become global citizens,” he emphasises. The NEP reflects this by placing importance on foreign languages and encouraging international collaborations. Young Indians are being prepared to understand and collaborate with diverse cultures, making India a true leader on the global stage.

The NEP is not just about academic excellence; it’s about leaving no one behind. As Modi stated, “We must build an India where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.” The NEP aims to bridge geographical, social, and economic divides that hinder quality education access. Initiatives like the University Connect Programme facilitate collaboration between universities and rural communities, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problems, truly making the NEP “a bridge between the textbooks and the real world.”

Technology plays a crucial role in Modi’s vision. Initiatives like the National Digital Library of India and online courses on platforms like SWAYAM make access to quality educational resources thoroughly inclusive. Knowledge becomes truly democratic when anyone, anywhere, can learn and grow.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” Modi once said. And with the NEP as the guiding force, he’s providing young minds with exactly that weapon.

Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in youth empowerment and higher education is a beacon of hope. By investing in young minds, fostering inclusivity, and leveraging technology, he’s shaping a generation capable of transforming India into a global leader by 2047.

In Modi’s words, “The youth of India are not just our future; they are our present strength.” With the NEP as their compass and Modi’s vision as their driving force, these young minds are certainly going to build the Developed India of their dreams.

Let’s all be part of this journey under the stewardship of this great leader. Let’s empower the youth, embrace the NEP, and build a Developed India, brick by brick, mind by mind.
