NEW DELHI: During a conference on ‘Strengthening Indo-US Relationship’ hosted by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) here on January 30, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasised the natural partnership between India and the US, characterising the collaboration as a force multiplier for a rulesbased global order.

The minister addressed the mounting global concerns regarding China’s military assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific region.

He highlighted the potential for India to serve as a de-risking avenue for American companies, citing the country’s ability to provide high returns. He expressed confidence that American capital and technological expertise could propel India towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Addressing the audience, Singh reassured that conflicts like RussiaUkraine and Israel-Hamas have had minimal impact on India’s defence sector. He emphasised India’s strength in safeguarding national interests and responding resolutely to any perceived threats.

The Defence Minister underscored the shared values and aligned interests between India and the US, describing their economic relationship as a win-win proposition. He stressed the sustainability and robustness of ties based on these twin congruences.

‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, Singh said outlined India’s commitment to collaboration rather than isolation, emphasising the campaign’s promotion of companionship based on the concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family).

The minister detailed significant reforms made in India across sectors, including FDI and labour laws. He said, “We have made reforms in FDI and labour laws to attract foreign investment and take advantage of our skilled workforce. We are also working on next-generation infrastructure project”.

Infrastructure sectors like roads, railways, waterways, and electricity have made unprecedented progress, he added.
