CHILEAN Ambassador to India, Juan Angula, and Police Attaché PDI (Policia De Investigaciones De Chile), Rafael Andres Tellez Benucci, met with CBI Director Praveen Sood and senior officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The meeting took place at the investigation agency’s headquarters on May 20. The meeting underscored the robust cooperation between CBI and PDI, particularly in combating technology-enabled crimes, drug trafficking, and transnational crimes.
In a press release, CBI highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts and expressed gratitude to the CBI for organising past events with PDI, Chile, facilitating the exchange of expertise on forensics and combating organised crime.
The Chilean delegation’s visit extended to the Global Operations Centre of CBI, where discussions revolved around strengthening the collaborative framework for police cooperation. Juan Angulo, Chile’s Ambassador, commended the CBI for its collaborative spirit and reiterated Chile’s commitment to enhancing cooperation. The two sides discussed plans to conduct workshops aimed at building capacity in combating technologyenabled crimes, exchanging criminal investigation techniques, and sharing best practices in digital forensics. Sood expressed gratitude for the visit and affirmed commitment to enhancing law enforcement cooperation.
The relationship between India and Chile is characterised by warmth, friendship, and shared perspectives on various issues. Both nations collaborate extensively in multilateral fora and hold similar views on climate change, renewable energy, and the expansion and reforms of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
