LUCKNOW: The Yogi Adityanath government firmed on its move for the state government employee to come clean on the ground of their assets.

The UP Government issued dictat to its employee that their salary could be at risk if they don’t comply with an official order.

Over 13 lakh UP government employees employees have been asked to declare their movable and immovable assets on a government portal – Manav Sampada – by August 31 or else they will not be paid salaries for this month.

The government employees have been asked to declare their movable and immovable assets on a government portal – Manav Sampada – by the month-end.

The initial deadline set by the order – issued in August last year – was December 31. Despite several extensions of the deadline, only 26 percent compliance was recorded. The deadline has now been pushed to August 31.

Non-compliance will also affect promotions, the latest order said. At present, there are 17 lakh 88 thousand 429 government employees in Uttar Pradesh. Out of this, only about 26 percent employees have given details of their properties. Which means, more than 13 lakh employees have yet to disclose their asset details.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has categorically stated that only those who give details of properties by August 31 will be paid for the month of August, while the salary of all others will be stopped.

The state Government has justified the step saying it “enhances transparency and accountability”. The directive applies to all categories of officers and employees, and failure to comply will result in ineligibility for promotions, in addition to the salary freeze.

In August 2023, the UP directed department heads to upload and verify data of all officers/employees on the Manav Sampada portal for merit-based e-transfer of personnel after it revoked the transfer orders of over 70 regional forest officers and ordered a probe into the transfer.
