The UAE has expanded its Golden Visa programme, granting 10-year residencies to professionals like nurses, teachers, digital creators, e-sports experts, and luxury yacht owners. This will align with the UAE’s vision to be a global hub for talent and innovation.

The Golden Visa expansion aligns with the UAE’s Vision 2030, aiming to diversify from oil by attracting 100,000 skilled professionals by 2030, according to WAM. This broadened programme seeks to draw international talent by offering long-term stability for qualified individuals and their families. This will ultimately support the UAE’s economic development and knowledge-based sectors.

The UAE’s Golden Visa programme, launched in 2019, now includes five new categories to attract professionals contributing to economic and knowledge growth, as announced in May 2025. The 10-year residency offers stability without requiring employer sponsorship, allowing family sponsorship for most categories.

The expansion, reported by Gulf News, targets nurses, educators, content creators, e-sports professionals, and luxury yacht owners.

The programme strengthens the UAE’s appeal, with 9.8 million visitors in 2024, per Dubai Tourism, and supports its 2030 economic goals. By offering long-term residency, the UAE competes with destinations like Singapore, attracting professionals who enhance sectors like healthcare, education, and digital innovation. Nurses and educators strengthen healthcare and education, critical for Dubai’s role as a medical and academic hub. Content creators and gamers boost the creative economy, with Dubai’s gaming events drawing 500,000 visitors annually, per DET.

Yacht owners enhance Abu Dhabi’s luxury tourism, supporting 8 per cent GDP growth in non-oil sectors, according to CBRE. The program’s flexibility, allowing family sponsorship, encourages longterm commitment, unlike shorter visas in Qatar.
