NEW DELHI: A Rs 2,500 crore defence arms manufacturing plant of the Adani group will come up soon in Kolaras area Madhya Pradesh. The plant will generate around 2,000 direct jobs, the Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said during a visit to Shivpuri-Kolaras area on April 25.
It would come up within two months near Kolaras, about 70 km from Guna, at the junction of Kota Highway and Mumbai-Gwalior Highway, and address the long-pending demand of industrial development, he said.
The investment is likely to spur ancillary industries and economic activity in the region, creating additional livelihood opportunities for local businesses and entrepreneurs
The defence equipment manufactured at the facility would contribute to protecting the country’s borders, said Scindia.
“Kolaras, known for agriculture and tomato production, will now emerge as an important centre of the country’s defence strength,” he stated.
He further noted that the investment is likely to spur ancillary industries and economic activity in the region, creating additional livelihood opportunities for local businesses and entrepreneurs.
“This project will have a multiplier effect, encouraging further industrial growth and economic expansion,” Scindia added.
In addition to the industrial announcement, the Union Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple infrastructure projects worth Rs 19.68 crore in Kolaras Scindia also inaugurated an Adani Vikas Kendra in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district, marking a step toward expanding livelihood opportunities for women through skill development and garment manufacturing. Located in Badarwas, the facility spans 48,000 square feet and is equipped with 600 modern sewing machines.
It has been designed to function as both a training hub and a production centre, enabling women to gain employable skills while participating in organised manufacturing activity. Addressing the gathering, Scindia highlighted the broader impact of such initiatives, saying the project reflects the “power of aspiration taking shape” at the grassroots level.
He also acknowledged the efforts of Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani and the Adani Foundation in creating opportunities that can connect local skills to wider markets. The centre is part of the Adani Foundation’s Swabhimaan programme, which aims to link one million women across India to sustainable livelihood opportunities.
