NEW DELHI: Former Congress leader and the last chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, N Kiran Kumar Reddy has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In the presence of Union minister Pralhad Joshi, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh and party chief spokesperson Anil Baluni, Reddy joined BJP at the party headquarters in New Delhi. In March this year, he had resigned from the primary membership of the Congress.
Born in September 1959, Reddy served as the 16th Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh from 25 November 2010 to 01 March 2014. He left the Congress by sending a one-line resignation letter to Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge on March 12 this year.
Three generations of the Reddy family have been in the Congress. Kiran has been a four-time MLA, Speaker, Chip Whip and the last Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh before Telangana was carved out from it. His father Amarnath Reddy was a four-time MLA of Andhra Pradesh and also a minister.
Taking a jibe at Congress leadership, Reddy said the Congress leadership thinks that it is correct and all others, including the people of India, are wrong.
