MUMBAI: An impressive farewell was organised in Mumbai for Amitabh Kumar, IRS, who retired as Director General, Shipping, recently. His exceptional work was appreciated and he was felicitated with a memento.
Prominent among those present at the farewell were Dr Vijay Suryavanshi, IAS; Dr Rakesh Singh, Excise Commissioner; Bollywood actor Deepak Tijori; Aditya Mishra, IRS and Chief Income Tax Officer; Deepak Dwivedi, Chairman & Editorin Chief of Blitz India; Sanjay Sahi, IRS; Dr Vilas Nadwaokar, Registrar, SNDT; Dr Nitin Desai; Pratap Narain, IRS; Ujjawal Kumar, IRS and Lekha Kumar, IRS.
After an excellent stint at the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in the Ministry of Finance, Kumar was transferred to the Ministry of Shipping as Additional DG, in August 2015. He was appointed as the Director General (Shipping) on April 9, 2019. A 1987-batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service, Kumar did his MBA from Southern Cross University, Australia; Advanced Management from Maxwell School of Public Policy, USA and Leadership & Change Management from Wharton Business School, USA.
Kumar graduated from Delhi University and has been known for his warm relations with the shipping industry.
