THE BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi celebrated its first anniversary with a grand event, aligning with the UAE’s Year of Community. The occasion brought together UAE leadership, community figures, and thousands of devotees in a tribute to a year of unity, service, and faith.

Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance, attended as the patron of the event. He was joined by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir, alongside 450 dignitaries, ambassadors, government officials, and faith leaders.

Over 20 members of the royal family, ministers, and senior UAE officials were also present. Additionally, 300 community leaders participated, with the overall turnout exceeding 13,000 people, including 11,000 visitors and 2,000 special attendees.

The event, themed “Mandir: The Heart of Community,” brought together prominent leaders from various sectors to celebrate the Mandir’s impact. The event unfolded across six distinct segments, each reflecting a core value upheld by the Mandir. In the Global Community segment Sudhir highlighted the mandir’s role in India-UAE relations, describing it as “the most tangible form of India and UAE friendship—one that you can feel.”

A year-in-review video showcased the mandir’s achievements, followed by an address from Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, who emphasised its role in strengthening cultural understanding and bilateral ties. Calling it “a handsome Mandir that is bringing the community together,” he lauded its significance as a beacon of faith and unity.

Over 20 members of the royal family, ministers, and senior UAE officials were also present

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the BAPS Hindu Mandir on February 14, 2024, marking a historic milestone for the Indian diaspora and the UAE’s commitment to cultural inclusivity and interfaith harmony.
