Blitz India makes African foray

AFTER successfully running the US, the UK and the UAE online editions for months, Blitz India launched its Africa edition at two separate events in Zanzibar and Dar-es-Salaam.

During an investors meet at the State House in Zanzibar on September 17, a special Tanzania edition of Blitz India was launched. The weekly newspaper is aimed at promoting Zanzibar and Tanzania in areas such as economy, tourism, arts and culture.

Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, who addressed the gathering, received a copy of the newlyunveiled edition. Two days later, on September 19, Blitz India made its appearance at a tourism event in Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam. Among the dignitaries who addressed the meeting was Ashatu Kijaji, Tanzania’s Minister of Industry and Trade.

In his speech, Blitz India Chairman & Editor-in-Chief Deepak Dwivedi said building on the strong foundation of friendship between India and Tanzania, the newspaper had launched a new slogan: ‘Developed India Developed Tanzania’. At the Asian investors’ meet in Zanzibar, President Mwinyi emphasised the need for increased investment, noting that many opportunities still remain untapped.

The President highlighted several areas ripe for investment, including conference tourism, sports tourism, health tourism and festival tourism. He encouraged the investors to act swiftly on their plans. He noted that Zanzibar’s rich spice heritage is yet to make a significant presence in Asian market.
