Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated a collaboration with the Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA) at the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) to bolster RTA’s 360 marine transport services. This endeavour entails integrating RTA’s services with DMA’s system, enabling the public to access services like short-term berth rentals for private boats to temporarily dock at maritime stations without overnight stays.

The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of DMA, and Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of Public Transport Agency, RTA.

“The Dubai Maritime Authority is committed to forging robust strategic alliances with government bodies, private entities, and stakeholders involved in maritime activities in Dubai, to achieve our goal of nurturing a sustainable and secure maritime business that supports Dubai’s economic growth,” Al Maktoum said and added, “The overall objective is to ensure a safe and conducive marine environment that supports operational efficiency and thriving maritime commerce.”

Bahrozyan welcomed the signing of the MoU with DMA and said, “This partnership aims to enhance RTA’s marine transport and other associated services toward enhancing customer satisfaction and enriching their overall experience.” RTA aims to enhance licensing services for maritime transport means registered with DMA by electronically linking with insurance companies under RTA’s system. Furthermore, it seeks to upgrade licensing services for maritime vessel crews registered with DMA by accessing eyesight test data through RTA’s system.

These initiatives aim to streamline interconnectivity between concerned departments, simplifying access to customer data and information on registered marine transport means, thus enhancing customer service.

The establishment of DMA in 2007 marked a significant transformation in Dubai’s maritime industry. Introducing various initiatives and regulatory measures, DMA created an investment-friendly environment to attract global marine industry leaders, solidifying Dubai’s position as a premier global maritime hub.
