The Director of Supply Chain for the UN World Food Programme, Alex Marianelli, has recently commended the efforts of the Dubai Humanitarian (formerly known as the International Humanitarian City in Dubai) for improving the safety and security of humanitarian centres, according to media reports.
In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the Global Meeting in Dubai to unveil its new identity “Dubai Humanitarian”, Marianelli said that humanitarian operations have evolved with Dubai Humanitarian for nearly 20 years and continue to grow.
He also mentioned that all international organisations working in the field of humanitarian work are proud of their partnership with Dubai Humanitarian.
The UN official highlighted the UAE’s financial support for humanitarian groups like WFP, saying “they assist with administrative tasks” and also shared how with Dubai government’s backing, through Dubai Humanitarian, help WFP expand its operations.
He commended Dubai Humanitarian’s digital efforts and technology solutions. “This allows WFP to work closely in the region and receive logistical support from the UAE,” Marianelli told Emirates News Agency (WAM).
