DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates’ Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, initiated in November 2023, has advanced into a new phase with a focus on transforming Government procedures.

The new phase aims to provide integrated, smart services to enhance economic competitiveness and business environment, said various media reports. Some of the key goals of this phase include eliminating at least 2,000 Government procedures and reducing approximately 50 per cent of the timeframes for these processes. The changes aim to create simpler, faster and more efficient services, particularly in the economic sector.

Centennial objectives

The programme supports the UAE Centennial 2071 objectives and aligns with the ‘We are the UAE 2031’ Vision, which represents a national plan through which the UAE will continue its development path for the next 10 years. The focus of this plan will be on social, economic, investment and development aspects. The plan seeks to enhance the position of the UAE as a global partner and an attractive and influential economic hub. It also aims to highlight the successful economic model of the UAE and the opportunities it provides to all global partners. The vision is based on four pillars that cover all the sectors including society, economy, diplomacy and ecosystem.

These are: Forward Society, which aims at achieving the prosperity of society by enhancing the capabilities of the citizens to maximise their effecting contribution in all sectors. The next is Forward Economy that reflects the UAE’s belief in the importance of human capital as the main driver of the next 10-year development plan. The other pillar of the ‘We are the UAE 2031’ Vision is Forward Diplomacy, which Involves consolidating the pivotal role and influence of the UAE based on respect for human values.

The last one is Forward Ecosystem, which means enhancing the Government performance and the UAE’s infrastructure and its development according to the latest technological methods, including the development of digital infrastructure.
