UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with former US President Donald Trump on September 27 as part of His Highness’s official visit to the United States.
During the meeting, His Highness emphasised that relations between the UAE and the US have flourished for over 50 years thanks to their partnership based on a shared vision of progress and prosperity.
His Highness expressed his appreciation for Trump’s efforts in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. The UAE President also met with former US President George W Bush on September 25 in Dallas, according to WAM.
His Highness and the former President engaged in cordial discussions, during which they recalled Bush’s historic visit to the UAE in 2008. The visit, they noted, further strengthened the two nations’ robust partnership, which is founded on shared values and a mutual commitment to promoting progress and stability.
The UAE President expressed his appreciation for Bush’s role in enhancing these relations during his time in office, wishing him continued health, wellbeing, and a long life. The former US President expressed his pleasure to be meeting again with His Highness and having the opportunity to reflect on key milestones in the bilateral relationship.
His Highness also highlighted the pivotal role of Bush’s late father, George HW Bush, in solidifying the friendship and partnership between the two countries. His Highness noted that President Bush Snr had been ‘a friend of the UAE and an ally to the region during a most difficult period.’ Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed that the shared commitment to promoting security, stability, and peace, both in the region and globally, has been a central pillar of UAE-US cooperation over the past decades, and expressed his confidence that this collaboration will continue into the future. The meeting was attended by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; and Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba of the UAE to the United States of America.
