MAHARASHTRA’S role in the country’s economy, finances and industrial strength came in for rich praise from Governor Ramesh Bais who was speaking at an event on May 1 on the occasion of the Maharashtra Day.
In particular, Bais spoke about the state’s role in cyber security. In addition to Mumbai, cities like Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Solapur are power centres for various sectors, he said. Because of its high-class engineering and other technical institutions, such as IIT Bombay, the state has become a pioneer in cyber security services. In today’s digital era, these services are the lifeline of both businesses and individuals, said Bais.
“Our state has various high-quality universities and vocational training institutes that attract students, researchers, and scholars from all over the world,” added the Governor. Maharashtra has the biggest strength in its population, which is hardworking, enterprising, and progressive. It is also an important centre when it comes to industrial manufacturing and the financial and service sectors, said Governor Bais.
The state’s proximity to the bsea route and port has always lured investors, be it domestic or foreign. The state is an economic and financial powerhouse which has played an important role in the infrastructure development of the country. Maharashtra is one of the leading states when it comes to agriculture, industrial products and manufacturing, trade, and transportation. Mumbai city made a big contribution to the state’s overall development since it houses the headquarters of most banks, corporate houses, and financial institutions.
India’s biggest share market and the film industry are also in Mumbai, and the city is also one of the important ports. One can have a glimpse of India through the diversity of Maharashtra, which also has a rich tradition and cultural heritage with the legacy of the Warkari sect and saints.
