PROF. Dhirendra Pal Singh, former chairman of the University Grants Commission has been appointed as the new Chancellor of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, Maharashtra. He will hold this position for the next five years.
Singh has been Vice Chancellor of three universities, Dr Hari Singh Gour University (2004 -2008), Banaras Hindu University (2008 – 2011), and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (2012 – 2015).
He has also been director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work, TISS was renamed and declared as deemed to be university in 1964.
