Labour : Five Years of e-Shram
The e-Shram portal completes five years on 26 August 2026. The Press Information Bureau research unit’s explainer of 25 August 2026 puts registrations at 31.89 crore, of which 54.28 per cent are women. Recomputed, that is 17.31 crore women in a single national database.

Social security : Fifteen Schemes, One Window
The e-Shram One-Stop Solution, launched on 21 October 2024, brings fifteen social security and welfare schemes onto one platform, among them PM-SYM, PMSBY, PMJJBY, the National Social Assistance Programme, One Nation One Ration Card and PMAY-Gramin. Registration is free and the eligibility age begins at sixteen.

Gig economy : Platform Workers Still a Sliver
About 11.5 lakh platform and gig workers have registered on e-Shram. Recomputed against 31.89 crore total registrations, that is 0.36 per cent — a reminder of how much of the platform workforce the database has yet to reach.

Railways : Twenty-Six Observations Laid
The Comptroller and Auditor General’s Audit Report No. 14 of 2026 on the Union Government (Railways) was laid on the tables of both Houses on 12 August 2026 and contains 26 audit observations, arising from test audit for the period up to 2023-24.

Public finance : Guarantees Within the Limit
The FRBM framework bars additional guarantees on the security of the Consolidated Fund of India above one-half per cent of GDP in a financial year. The Comptroller and Auditor General records that additional guarantees in FY 2024-25 remained within that limit.

Agriculture : Six States Lead on Drip
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan recorded the largest areas brought under micro irrigation in 2025-26 under Per Drop More Crop. The scheme reached 12.30 lakh farmers that year, about a fifth of them women.
