The economy : Economy Grew 7.8 Per Cent
The National Statistics Office puts real gross domestic product for April–June 2026 at ₹81,36,153 crore against ₹75,46,230 crore a year earlier. This desk recomputed the rate from those two levels and reached 7.82 per cent, which is the 7.8 per cent the Ministry publishes. Diplomacy and finance : India Hosts The BRICS Summit This Month
As BRICS Chair for 2026, India hosts the eighteenth BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 12 and 13 September, under the chairship theme Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability. Energy : India’s First Geothermal Wells Are In
Two wells, each 1,000 metres deep, have been commissioned at Puga Valley in Ladakh — the first in the country — executed by ONGC Energy Centre at an altitude above 14,000 feet, which is 4,267 metres. Reserves : Forex Reserves Cross $740 Billion
India’s foreign exchange reserves rose by 11.4 billion US dollars in the week ended 28 August to a record 740.8 billion dollars, on Reserve Bank data. Foreign currency assets, the largest component, accounted for 9.3 billion dollars of the rise — 81.58 per cent of the week’s increase, computed here. Conservation : Vultures Take To Two Tiger Reserves
Twenty-nine captive-bred vultures released across the Melghat and Pench tiger reserves in Maharashtra between December 2025 and January 2026 recorded survival rates of up to 78 per cent, the Bombay Natural History Society reports.
