India and Chile Aim to Close This Year
The Commerce Ministry said on 30 August 2026 that India remains committed to concluding negotiations on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement with Chile within this year. Commerce Secretary Shri Rajesh Agrawal met Ms Paula Estevez Weinstein, Vice-Minister of International Economic Relations of Chile, on 26 August in Santiago to advance the talks.
Diplomacy : Tashkent, Then Bishkek
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is on a state visit to Uzbekistan on 29–30 August 2026 and travels to Bishkek for the 26th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation on 31 August and 1 September, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on 28 August. India has been a full member of the organisation since 2017.
Rural Housing : Bihar Sanctioned 11.19 Lakh Houses
The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said on 20 August 2026 that 11.19 lakh pucca houses had been approved for Bihar with an allocation of ₹13,427 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin.
Fisheries : An Action Plan for Ornamental Fish
The Department of Fisheries will release ‘Mission Rangeen Machhli 2031’, a strategic action plan for ornamental fisheries development, at an outreach programme at Agatti, Lakshadweep on 31 August 2026. It sets a uniform framework for scientific management, biosecurity, quality assurance and regulatory compliance across the value chain.
Defence Estates : Fourteen Projects at Lucknow Cantonment
The Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh, and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, performed the bhoomi pujan for 14 development projects worth more than ₹100 crore at the Lucknow Cantonment, the Ministry of Defence announced on 30 August 2026.
Medical Education : NEET-PG Held Across the Country
The NEET-PG 2026 examination was conducted successfully across the country with strengthened security and real-time monitoring, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on 30 August 2026.
