PM Modi arrives in Paris for final leg

Blitz Bureau

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Paris and received a warm welcome from members of the Indian diaspora, as he underscored the importance of the India-France partnership for global progress. This marks the final leg of Modi’s two-nation tour to France and Slovakia.

In Paris, Modi is scheduled to attend VivaTech 2026 alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and interact with the Indian community. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, VivaTech is Europe’s premier technology and innovation event, and India will have the largest national pavilion at this year’s edition, reflecting the growing potential for collaboration between the Indian and European innovation ecosystems.

Before leaving for Paris, Modi had described his engagements at the G7 Summit as “productive”, saying he had the opportunity to present India’s views and efforts on key areas of governance and policy-making.

The Paris leg of the visit follows the Prime Minister’s participation in the G7 Summit in Evian, where he engaged with world leaders on a range of global issues, including governance, artificial intelligence (AI), and cooperation with the Global South.

Describing his engagements at the summit as “productive”, PM Modi said he had presented India’s perspectives on governance and policymaking while emphasising the need for deeper collaboration with developing nations.

“Had a productive round of meetings and interactions at the G7 Summit in Evian. I had the opportunity to put forward India’s views and efforts on key areas of governance and policy-making. Also had the opportunity to put forward the need to work closely with the Global South as far as global prosperity is concerned,” he said in a post on X.

At the summit, PM Modi participated in a session on artificial intelligence, highlighting India’s commitment to ethical, responsible and human-centric AI development. He also called for an inclusive approach to ensure that the benefits of emerging technologies reach developing countries.
