Sanjay jogHome Minister Amit Shah on August 7, hailed Maharashtra’s contribution to the cooperative sector in India. He also launched the digital portal of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS).

Shah who shared the dias with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for the first time, since the latter joined the BJP, credited Maharashtra for spreading the culture of cooperatives across the country. “If we look at the direction of development of the cooperative movement today, then the cooperative movement has progressed and flourished only in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka, which is, the parts of the earlier Mumbai state,’’ he said after launching the digital portal of CRCS.

The CRCS portal has been created including all the activities of registration, amendment of bylaws, auditing, monitoring of auditing by the Central Registrar, the entire process of election, development of Human Resources, vigilance and training and it is a kind of complete portal in itself.

Amit Shah said that the 1555 multi-state cooperative societies of the country will be benefited by the portal. About 42% of these 1555 societies are in Maharashtra only, showcasing the strength of cooperative movement in Maharashtra.

The Home Minister also heaped praise on Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. “Ajit Dada (Pawar) has come for the first time after becoming the Deputy CM and I am sharing the stage with him, I want to tell him that after a long time, you are sitting at the right place. This was the right place but you took too long to come.”

On his part, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said while the cooperative sector is going through difficult times, many positive changes are being made to achieve ‘’Sahakar Se Samriddhi’’ as the focus has been on transparency.
