NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on November 11 reviewed the security situation in the National Capital after a car blast near Red Fort’s Metro station on November 10 evening left 13 people dead. As per PTI, the meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and DG, NIA, Sadanand Vasant Date. DGP of Jammu and Kashmir Nalin Prabhat also attend the meeting virtually. Its learnt that during the meeting, top officials gave detailed presentations on the situation in the aftermath of the blast.

The blast took place in a Hyundai i20 car at 6.52 pm near the Red Fort Metro Station, leaving mangled bodies and damaged cars scattered in the busy area. A high alert has been sounded in the National Capital. The Delhi Police have invoked UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) sections after forensic evidence and intelligence inputs pointed to possible terror links.

The blast came hours after Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered nearly 3,000 kg of explosives from two residential buildings in Faridabad in Haryana. The materials – which included 350kg of ammonium nitrate, a commonly-used fertiliser that can be turned into a deadly bomb – were seized based on intel from an arrested J&K-based doctor, Adil Rather. Dr Umar Mohammad, a member of a radical doctors’ group that coordinated on Telegram and has links to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a Pakistan-based terror group, is at the centre of the Delhi blast.
