CHENNAI: The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) will introduce 25 safety-related and technical-related improvement features on future Vande Bharat trains based on feedback from passengers and railway zones, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
After inspecting Vande Bharat rakes, including the one with the orange/grey livery, under manufacture at ICF, Vaishnaw said the improvements include “increase in seat declining angle, better cushion for seats, better accessibility to mobile-charging points, extended foot rest in the executive chair cars, washbasin with increased depth to avoid splashing of water, better lighting in toilets, provision of fixing points for wheelchairs used by divyangjan passengers in the driving trailer coaches, change of reading lamp touching from resistive touch to capacitive touch for easy use, better roller blind fabric.”
He said an anti-climbing device for enhanced safety is also being installed at the rakes that will be produced in the coming months. He said that it would be a standard feature in Vande Bharat. “It will improve safety multiple times,” the minister said.I am happy to see the improvements being carried out at the Vande Bharat Express,” Vaishnav added.
