NEW DELHI: According to a recent report by the RBI, India’s digital economy has grown at more than twice the rate of India’s economic growth. Moreover, the digital economy has shown strong forward linkages to non-digital sectors. A sector is said to show a forward linkage when the output from that sector is utilised as inputs in another sector. As such, the investments made in the country’s digital economy are driving growth in other sectors as well.
The digital transformation of rural India has enhanced the need for online delivery of services. These include the delivery of services such as labour and employment, education, water, infrastructure planning, social welfare, tourism and more, through the internet or other electronic means.
