NEW DELHI: Lord Rami Ranger has congratulated Shabana Mahmood, Home Secretary, on her tough stand on curbing illegal immigrants and bogus asylum seekers.
In a letter to the Home Secretary, he said, “In the wake of the attack in Golders Green on two innocent members of the British Jewish community, it is time we stop importing conflicts into our country with serious consequences to our race relations and social cohesion”.
He further said, “Britain has historic links with many countries worldwide, and citizens of those countries are now British and are making a positive contribution. However, we are not obliged to turn Britain into a war zone by allowing rivalries between nations and bringing their conflicts to the United Kingdom, affecting the lives of every British citizen, not to mention the colossal cost of policing them”.
“As an important member of the Government, it is your duty to protect the citizens of the United Kingdom from those who enter the country in breach of the law and are then provided with hotel accommodation, free food, and shopping money.
Sadly, some of them continue to break the law with their activities, like harming our girls and committing petty crimes. As a result, their cost to the taxpayers continues to spiral, not to mention the damage they cause to the fabric of our society and way of living,” he added.
Lord Rami Ranger said since the police forces were under enormous strain to maintain law and order, asking them to take on the additional responsibility of dealing with international disputes as well was not sustainable. He said, “Our foremost duty is to maintain cordial relations among our citizens by preventing foreign rivalries from becoming a cause of conflict”.
