Amulti-faith delegation of Indian Minorities Foundation (IMF) will join the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) in the United States at the annual India Day Parade, at Madison Avenue in New York City on August 18.
To showcase the tapestry of Indian culture outside India, the Foundation, which has India’s Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu as its convener, will join the parade, which is the largest celebration of India’s Independence Day outside the country.
The IMF delegation will be led by Sandhu, and Bollywood actress Rashmika Mandanna is likely lead the parade as Grand Marshal. The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, meaning ‘the world is one family’ which is a cultural essence of India. The FIA has planned a set of special events to make this year’s celebration special.
The parade will include a tableau depicting a model of the recently-built Ram Mandir at Ayodhaya as the main attraction, said a press release. The model, it said, is an emblem of cultural identity and a significant achievement for the Indian community across the world. The day-long celebration will also include special food stalls, cultural extravaganza and floats representing various Indian-American communities and a diversity of culture, by various Indian organisations based in the US. According to organisers, thousands of people from the Indian diaspora will converge in New York for this year’s parade.
