NEW DELHI: At a recent diplomatic gathering held by the Saudi Arabia embassy in Vietnam, the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) took the spotlight, illuminating Saudi Arabia’s fervent commitment to global and Vietnamese development initiatives.
The event, titled ‘Transforming challenges into opportunities: A look at the SFD in Vietnam and around the world’, witnessed the presence of SFD CEO Sultan Bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad.
Also, in attendance were Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Mohammed Dahlawi, Vietnamese officials, and representatives from international agencies and organizations. Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment in Vietnam, Tran Quoc Phuong, commended the substantial support extended by the Saudi Government through SFD in Vietnam, particularly in bolstering infrastructure projects.
The SFD’s CEO underscored the Fund’s close developmental ties with Vietnam, emphasising that the programmes and projects funded by the SFD in the country are significant contributors to economic growth and prosperity. “These projects were concentrated in vital sectors that had a positive impact on the lives of the Vietnamese people,” he said.
The Saudi Ambassador elucidated that the SFD’s contributions embody Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing social infrastructure and spurring economic growth in Vietnam. He highlighted the global impact of the SFD’s projects over the past five decades, manifesting in economic growth, social progress, and the betterment of societies across the globe, exemplifying the values of international cooperation and solidarity.
The SFD showcased its dedication to development at the event with two informative pavilions, introducing its extensive activities both in Vietnam and worldwide. The SFD has supported over 800 projects and development programmes in over 100 developing countries since its establishment in 1974, with the total value exceeding $20 billion.
