Deepak DwivediPrime Minister Narendra Modi has often described Government servants as karmayogis. The recent inauguration of the first-ever National Training Conclave by him at the International Exhibition and Convention Centre in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan epitomised this spirit.

In an inspiration address, the Prime Minister emphasised the significance of capacity building, breaking down silos, and improving service delivery. “We shall keep transforming challenges into opportunities for a New India,” he promised.

One of the most crucial aspects of the conclave was the participation of representatives from civil services training institutes across the country.

The conclave was hosted by the Capacity Building Commission with the objective of fostering collaboration among civil services training institutes. Over 1,500 representatives from central training institutes, state administrative training institutes, regional and zonal training institutes, and research institutes attended the conclave. Prominent civil servants and experts from the private sector also participated.

Faith in the system: It is the responsibility of all Government servants to increase faith of people in the system said the Prime Minister in his address. He said the training modules should be oriented and developed such that these aspects are inculcated in the Government officials.

PM Modi emphasised the importance of aspects like service orientation of Government work, ownership in realising the aspirations of common man, need to break hierarchy and using experience of every person in organisation.

Discussing his experience of earlier serving as CM and later as PM, the Prime Minister underlined that the Government has never lacked talented, dedicated and committed officials.

“Just like the institution of the Army has built impeccable credibility in the eyes of public, it is the responsibility of all Government servants to further increase the faith of people in the Government system,” said the PM.

Significant concerns: The conclave comprised eight panel discussions, each emphasising significant concerns relating to civil service training institutes, such as faculty development, training impact assessment, and content digitisation.

The event was organised under the auspices of the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB) – ‘Mission Karmayogi.’

According to the official release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the conclave sought to foster collaboration among civil services training institutes and bolster the training infrastructure for civil servants across the country.

The diverse gathering aimed to facilitate exchange of ideas, identify challenges being faced, explore opportunities, and generate actionable solutions and comprehensive strategies for effective capacitybuilding, said an official release from the Press Information Bureau.
