Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Deepak DwivediTHE Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra, launched across the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 15 from Khunti, Jharkhand, is a strong message to the United Nations and the world on the issue of development and its related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is these goals on the basis of which UN classifies countries as developed or developing.

The scale and criteria prepared by the United Nations for the classification of developed and developing countries at the international level are evaluated on the parameters set by the SDGs The stormy pace of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra has showcased to the world India’s political power and unwavering resolve for development.

Elaborating on his vision and putting people at the centre of India’s developmental journey at the Sankalp Yatra in Varanasi on December 18, PM Modi said, “If the 140 crore countrymen take a resolve to make the nation developed, then India will surely become viksit (developed) by 2047.”

Announcing a slew of projects on inclusive development, Prime Minister Modi reiterated his resolve to ensure that no one is left behind. Through this Yatra the Prime Minister has shown to the world the path to becoming a developed nation.

Big strides in 10 years It is an established fact that during the last 10 years under Modi, India has taken big strides towards achieving SDGs, while other countries have faltered. The Prime Minster described the purpose of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra as his examination by the people.

“Through this, I want to know from you if what I promised was fulfilled or not. In our country, many Government schemes have been made, based on the experience of all of them, I felt that the most important thing for the country to pay attention to is that the schemes of the Government should reach people at the right time, without any problems,” he said.

Significantly, addressing a meeting of G20 Development Ministers in Varanasi during India’s presidency, PM Modi had asked them to evolve blueprints for sustainable development goals (SDGs) and called for collective action to ensure that no one was left behind.

PM Modi is leading the world leaders by example in showcasing how his Government’s schemes are not only achieving sustainable development goals, but also verifying whether their benefits reach the last man in the line.

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is delivering the commitment for empowerment and a more promising future to the doorsteps of every Indian.

On December 16, he engaged with and addressed the beneficiaries through a video conference, marking his third such interaction throughout the journey. On the same day, he flagged off the yatra in five states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.

In just one month, the yatra has connected with over 2.50 crore citizens across 68,000 gram panchayats in the country.
