India-Bhutan ties are “unbreakable”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during his two-day visit to the Himalayan neighbour while Bhutanese PM Tshering Tobgay said a “big thank you” to his Indian counterpart for visiting Bhutan “despite his busy schedule”.
Addressing him as “my brother’, the Bhutanese PM said it must be “Modi Ka Guarantee” phenomenon that PM Modi was able to fulfil his promise of visit, regardless of his busy schedule and the unpleasantly cold weather.
The reassertion of warmth and brotherhood by the two sides was significant in the backdrop of the looming threat from the dragon in the room – China.
While India went an extra mile to ensure that the bilateral ties did not enter a state of limbo, the sentiment was reciprocated by Bhutan, which conferred its highest civilian award, the ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo’, on PM Modi, the first foreign head of the Government to receive the honour
