Emphasising the crucial role of India’s youth in shaping the nation’s future, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has said, “India’s greatest strength today is its young students,” Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Addressing Indian students at an event in London on January 11, he highlighted their contribution to the country’s progress through their mindset, innovation, and competitive spirit.

He pointed out the global trend of declining youth populations in many regions, contrasting it with India’s rising capabilities and confidence among its younger generation.

“In India, the abilities, confidence, and innovative capacity of our youth are growing rapidly. While many parts of the world face a decline in their young population, India’s youth remain our biggest strength, driving the nation forward with new energy and ideas,” he said.

Birla urged the students to actively contribute to India’s growth and reflect the aspirations of a progressive and modern nation.

Awaid Joshi, a student at the University of Law, shared his thoughts after the interaction, saying, “Meeting and listening to him was incredibly inspiring. It had a significant impact on broadening access to Indian politics.” Another student expressed gratitude, saying, “I learned new ideas and thank the High Commission of India and the Government of India for organizing this event.” The event was attended by senior dignitaries, including High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami and Deputy High Commissioner Sujit Ghosh, underscoring its significance.

This interaction not only allowed students to engage with one of India’s key leaders but also showcased the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Indian diaspora, particularly the youth pursuing education abroad. Birla on his visit to the United Kingdom also offered prayers at the BAPS Shri Swami Narayan Temple in northwest London’s area of Neasden.
