Cabinet clears GOBARdhan National Circular Bioenergy Scheme
NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet has approved GOBARdhan — the National Circular Bioenergy Scheme with an outlay of ₹23,731 crore, marking a major push towards clean energy, waste-to-wealth and rural economic growth.
The scheme seeks to transform agricultural residue, cattle dung, press mud, municipal organic waste and other biomass into Compressed Biogas (CBG) and organic manure.
It creates an integrated national framework for the CBG sector through assured offtake, stable pricing, capital assistance, pipeline connectivity and improved access to finance.
The programme, covering FY 2026-27 to FY 2035-36, aims to achieve nearly a ten-fold increase in domestic CBG production.

₹8,970 CRORE HIGHWAY BOOST FOR THE NORTHEAST
CCEA approves 135.87-km Guwahati–Tezpur Corridor
NEW DELHI: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the development of the 135.87-km, four-lane access-controlled Guwahati–Tezpur Corridor on NH-15 in Assam at a capital cost of ₹8,970.20 crore.
The highway will be developed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Toll Mode.
The project includes five major bypasses spanning 58.7 km to ease congestion in densely populated stretches.
A 4.9-km Emergency Landing Facility at the Tezpur Bypass, finalised in coordination with the Indian Air Force, will add strategic significance to the corridor.

The corridor will strengthen connectivity between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh while improving access to economic centres, airports, railway stations, waterways terminals and tourism destinations.
