NEW DELHI A special song promoting the benefits of millets ‘Abundance in Millets’ featuring Indian-American singer Falguni Shah and Indian PM Modi has been nominated for 2022 Grammy awards, under the Best Global Music Performance Category.
The nomination of the song has been welcomed by many, as it highlights the importance of millet in the world’s food supply, and promotes its consumption as a healthy alternative. The year 2023 has been designated as the “International Year of Millets,” after a proposal for it was brought forward by India and endorsed by the members of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) governing bodies as well as the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.
Apart from Abundance in Millets, other songs nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category are Shadow Forces by Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer, and Shahzad Ismaily, Alone by Burna Boy, eel by Davido, Milagro Y Disastre by Silvana Estrada, Pashtoby Bla Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Zakir Hussain featuring Rakesh Chaurasia, and “Todo Colores” by Ibrahim Maalouf featuring Cimafunk and Tank and the Bangas.
