NEW DELHI: Kamlesh Patel, fondly called Daaji, has received several felicitations and awards for his outstanding work towards the betterment of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. The global guide of Heartfulness Meditation, this year he was honoured with Padma Bhushan for his distinguished service in spiritualism. The prestigious award was presented to him by President Droupadi Murmu, on March 22.

Daaji’s spiritual journey began in the humble village of Bharuch in Gujarat. He graduated in Pharmacy, built a successful pharmaceutical business in New York, and pursued his interest in personal spiritual fulfillment. Daaji was guided by his father, then a monk on the banks of River Narmada, and his spiritual Guru, the founder of Shri Ram Chandra Mission, Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur.
Daaji has devoted his life to scientific, spiritual, and medical research in the field of yoga and consciousness. He promotes research on anxiety, anger, stress management, and addiction relief. The Heartfulness Institute, under his patronage, has made several revealing scientific discoveries on the neurological impact of meditation on physical and mental health, with publications appearing in scientific journals regularly.
He has published ‘Tales from the Vedas and Upanishads’, a bestseller for children, with many more interesting books on the anvil. His books for children and narratives of well- known ancient stories offer alternate solutions to solve current crises in individual and social life. He has also pioneered numerous other initiatives for children, such as ‘Brighter Minds’, which improves cognitive learning and helps unleash the hidden potential of children. His bestseller, ‘The Wisdom Bridge’, guides young couples in the preparation of their marriage and parenting.
