The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) conducted path sanchalan (route march) at 45 places in Tamil Nadu on April 16 after the Tamil Nadu government’s appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court.
The RSS had last year sought permission to take out the march on October 2. But the DMK government of the state did not give permission citing law and security situation amid the ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) and several of its allied groups by the Union Home Ministry.
The apex court had on April 11 dismissed the three petitions of the state. With this, the court in its order gave its consent to the RSS to take out marches in several areas of the state with certain conditions.
