NEW DELHI: Tourism leaders from G20 nations, invited international organisations, and guest countries recently gathered in the picturesque cities of Siliguri and Darjeeling in West Bengal for the second meeting of the Tourism Working Group (TWG) under India’s G20 presidency.
The three-day event, which concluded on April 3, saw the participants engage in lively discussions on five critical areas of tourism: Green Tourism, Digitalisation, Skills, Tourism MSMEs, and Destination Management.
The conference was inaugurated by Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region G Kishan Reddy and Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla.
During the working sessions, the delegates delved into the potential roadmap for linking the tourism sector with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
On the sidelines of the conference, a panel discussion was held on the development of ‘Adventure Tourism’ and its transformative power in achieving SDGs.
Overall, the second meeting of the TWG was a resounding success, with participating countries making strides towards sustainable and responsible growth of tourism industry.
