THE Yogi Adityanath Government in Uttar Pradesh completed the first year of its second term on March 25. Thanks to the double-engine sarkar – the same party government at the Centre and the state – the state has witnessed multiple achievements during the past six years. During the period, the ruling dispensation has prepared the roadmap for taking UP’s economy to $1 trillion. The recently-held Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023, which received investment proposals worth Rs 33.5 lakh crore, was a cogent step towards that goal.
The state now ranks second in the ease-of-doing business. The G20 meetings in four different cities and the SCO tourism ministers’ meeting in the state have further uplifted UP’s profile.
Strengthening the changing perception about Uttar Pradesh, from being the ‘bad land’ to ‘Uttam Pradesh’ with limitless opportunities for growth, the Yogi Government has made major headway on law and order front. It has come down heavily on criminals by putting them in jail and confiscating or demolishing their ill-gotten properties.
UP has also witnessed significant improvement in infrastructure since the Yogi Government came to power. The state now has a wide network of expressways, and the work is underway in making ring road in all district headquarters. Metro services are operational in five cities.
When Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister in 2017, there were only two airports functional in the state. Today, UP has nine fully functional airports and work is in progress on 12 airports.
Soon, UP will be the first state in the country to have five international airports. The country’s first waterway has also been started from Varanasi to Haldia linking the state to the eastern port.
Among its several achievements on the political front, the Bharatiya Janata Party, under Yogi, demolished Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s ‘citadel’ in UP. The party emerged victorious in the politically important Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha bye-elections in 2022. Also, it wrested the Rampur Assembly seat, vacated due to the loss of Azam Khan’s membership after his three-year jail sentence.
The Yogi Government has been successful in implementing its policies and programmes in line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’. The state is no longer identified with mafia and miscreants, but with progress, innovation and good governance. The first year of Yogi 2.0 has accelerated the emergence of a safe, prosperous, advanced and atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh, making rapid strides across all fronts.
