MINISTER of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan the recently engaged with the Indian community in Fujairah, UAE, addressing the diverse challenges faced by the diaspora.

The event provided a platform for the community to express concerns, ranging from issues of degree equivalence and difficulties for medical patients to challenges related to chartered accountants’ equivalence in the UAE. Collaborating with Consul General of India (UAE) Satish Kumar Sivan, the minister actively proposed solutions to address these concerns.

During his two-day trip from December 22 and 23, to the UAE, the minister visited the Indian Consulate in Dubai, conducting a comprehensive review of consular issues. Muraleedharan called for approaching problems empathetically, considering the experiences of those affected.

In his address, Muraleedharan highlighted the significance of recent legislative changes, considering them essential steps towards realising the vision of a developed India. He drew a connection to Mahatma Gandhi’s pursuit of Swaraj, emphasising the need for laws to adapt to India’s evolving landscape, including technological advancements like artificial intelligence.

The minister underscored the transformative nature of the legal framework, shifting from a punitive focus in the Indian Penal Code to a justice-centric approach that ensures justice for victims. Stressing the importance of a scientific and efficient legal system, he invoked the adage “Justice delayed is justice denied.”

Muraleedharan expressed confidence that the diaspora would take pride in India’s progressive developments, urging them to actively contribute to the vision of a “Vikasit Bharat” or a developed India, particularly in the education sector.
