India now favourite destination for investments, says PM Modi

2,000 rail projects worth Rs. 41,000 crores launched

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on February 26 that India has become the favourite destination for investments because of its modern infrastructure.

He said this while laying the foundation stone and inaugurating and dedicating to the nation around 2,000 railway infrastructure projects worth more than Rs. 41,000 crores via video conferencing.

“Whatever India does today, it does it on an unprecedented speed and scale. We dream big and work tirelessly to realize them. This resolve is visible in this Viksit Bharat Viksit Railway programme”, he said

Talking about the achievements made in the railways sector in the past 10 years, the Prime Minister said speed of laying of railways lines has doubled and now the railways is reaching to Jammu and Kashmir and North- Eastern States.

He said, Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains have completely transformed the railways and now the passengers are experiencing world- class facilities. He said massive investment in the development of railways infrastructure will open up new opportunities for youths.

During the programme, Mr. Modi laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations will be redeveloped at a cost of over Rs 19,000 crore.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated redeveloped Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh. He also laid the foundation stone, and dedicated 1,500 road over bridges and underpasses. These projects will reduce congestion, enhance safety and connectivity, improve capacity, and efficiency of rail travel.
