The Maharashtra Cabinet Sub Committee on Industry chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday has approved various projects with investment of over Rs 40,000 crore in the state which will create 1.20 lakh jobs. These projects will come up in Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Nandurbar, Ahmednagar, Raigad, Navi Mumbai.
The Chief Minister’s Office in a release claimed that the country’s first electric vehicle and battery manufacturing project worth around Rs 12,482 crore will be established at Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) while the Gems and Jewellery Park project will come up at Mahape, Navi Mumbai. Both these projects have been given mega project status.
Gogoro India Pvt Ltd will set up electric vehicle and battery manufacturing and swapping station infrastructure at Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad). Gogoro is going to set up about 12,000 battery swapping stations in the whole of Maharashtra in the near future. This is expected to give a boost for the electric vehicle infrastructure and the use of EVs in the state.
The sub committee also approved an investment of Rs 865 crore by Ather Energy Company, a manufacturer of electric vehicles and batteries at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad). Ather Energy is one of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers in India which makes advanced and connected electric bikes. This project will help in establishing a supplier ecosystem in the state.
Further, the cabinet sub committee gave nod for an investment of Rs 776 crore by Pinnacle Mobility Solutions PVt Ltd for manufacturing the country’s first e-bus in Pune. The Chief Minister’s Office said that the proposed facility will be India’s most technologically advanced commercial electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle manufacturing one. Electric vehicles and new energy vehicles will be the biggest contributors to the country’s manufacturing industry in the next decade. The project can become an electric vehicle and hydrogen hub in Pune.
The sub committee also cleared investments of Rs 2700 by the Performance Chemiserv Company in Raigad, Rs 2033 crore investment project of Smartchem Technologies Company in Raigad, Rs 500 project of General Polyfilms Company in Nandurbar, Rs 544 crore project of Wipro Pari Robotics Company in Satara and Rs 110 crore project of Ganraj Ispat Company in Ahmednagar.
