New Delhi: In a recent announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the setting up of the National Turmeric Board in Telangana. This initiative comes as a ray of hope for farmers in the region, promising to enhance their turmeric cultivation practices and broaden market avenues.

The establishment of the Turmeric Board is poised to serve multiple purposes. Not only will it provide robust infrastructure support, but it will also focus on value addition, foster research facilities, and streamline exports. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the board’s role in addressing the needs of the farmers.

Turmeric, widely recognized for its therapeutic properties, has seen a surge in demand, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This golden spice, boasting of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, has long been a staple in Indian kitchens. Its increased recognition as a potent health enhancer has propelled its demand globally. With exports witnessing an upward trend, the creation of a dedicated board for turmeric is timely and essential.

On platform X, Prime Minister Modi penned his commitment to the farmer community, stating, “The well-being and prosperity of our farmers remain our utmost concern. Through the National Turmeric Board, our goal is to tap into the potential of our hardworking turmeric cultivators and extend the support they merit. Nizamabad, in particular, stands to gain substantially. Our continuous endeavors are directed towards ensuring a brighter tomorrow for our turmeric farmers.”

With such a dedicated institution, the golden era for turmeric farmers seems to be on the horizon, bringing to the forefront the myriad benefits of this miraculous spice.
