External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has praised the strong bond between India and Russia, highlighting their careful handling of each other’s interests.

During his speech to the Indian community in Singapore, he dismissed any idea of Russia moving closer to China. His visit to the citystate from March 23 to 27 gave him a chance to discuss the enduring relationship between the two countries.

In response to questions about the future of Indo-Russian relations, Jaishankar urged a practical approach, “India should look at a country, not just Russia, from the perspective of that nation. Jaishankar expressed confidence in the future of the partnership, reflecting the mutual cooperation between the two nations. “Both India and Russia have taken extra care to protect each other’s interests.” Following the tragic attack in Moscow on March 23, Jaishankar promptly reached out to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to offer condolences. His gesture highlighted India’s solidarity and empathy in times of distress.

“Spoke to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Conveyed our deepest condolences on the loss of lives in the horrific terrorist attack in Moscow,” he said in a tweet.

On the sidelines, a bilateral meeting between India and Japan, cochaired by Mittal and Vice Minister of Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Hiroshi Yoshida, discussed collaboration on
