EXTERNAL Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Rome on November 25, as part of his three-day official visit to Italy. The meeting saw both leaders discuss key areas of collaboration between India and the UK.
During their talks, EAM Jaishankar lauded the steady progress in the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, emphasising strengthened cooperation in technology, green energy, trade, and mobility. They also exchanged views on developments in the IndoPacific and West Asia regions.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said, “Started the day by meeting FS David Lammy of UK, in Rome. Appreciate the steady momentum in India UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Discussed deepening cooperation in technology, green energy, trade, mobility, as well as ongoing developments in Indo-Pacific and West Asia.”
Jaishankar also met with the Foreign Minister of Ukraine and discussed the conflict with Russia at the sidelines of the MED Mediterranean Dialogues Conference in Rome, Italy. Apart from Ukraine, EAM Jaishankar met with his counterparts from France, Lebanon, and Croatia as well.
On his meeting with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, the EAM reiterated India’s support for “dialogue and diplomacy” to end the long-running conflict. “Good to meet FM of Ukraine @andrii_sybihain Rome today. Useful exchange on advancing our bilateral cooperation. Reiterated India’s support for dialogue and diplomacy,” he said on X.
The Ukrainian FM in a post on X said: “I held meaningful talks with @DrSJaishankar on a number of bilateral and international issues. I appreciate India’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. India’s global role is critical to advancing a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
